Hello! I have purchased and tasted through 4 teas from India at the selection of Praveen from TeaGardenia — an excellent source for high quality Darjeeling’s. These teas are available for our dinner service in Carino, I have them in very small quantities so I don’t expect they will last very long. If you have any interest in trying what the upper echelon of Darjeeling (or Meghalaya) tastes like, please visit sooner than later!
Lakyrsiew ‘Exotic Pearl White‘, Umiam Lake, Meghalaya Aspen Poplar Buds, National Parks Near a River, Beginning of Spring, Tie Guan Yin Oolong |
‘Exotic Moonlight FF Black’ Jungpana Estate, Kurseong, Darjeeling Honeydew and Cardamom Cream puff, Shishito Peppers, Green Peppercorns in Brine |
‘Exotic Mystic FF Black’ by Balasun Estate, Kurseong, Darjeeling Honeysuckle, Orange Flower Water, Creamsicle, Pad Thai, Manuka Honey |
‘Ethereal FF Private Reserve Black’ by Turzum Estate, Rungbong valley, Darjeeling Starfruit, Jackfruit, Mace, Cashew Baklava, ‘Five Alive’ Juice Box, Caragana Shrub ‘Peas’ |
The white tea from Lakyrsiew is especially beautiful in the dry form. I didn’t expect anything like that when I opened the package. It’s a shame the brew doesn’t have more potency in the mouth. I understand that perhaps it’s asking a lot for a 1 bud 1 leaf tea to have potency, however the silver needle tea on my menu doesn’t have any leaves; and is more potent! Though it is 3 times the price.
All 3 blacks are great — I guess the Turzum is my favorite though. These teas are similar to each other in reality. It’s funny looking at the table above as the author and fantasizing about the tea based on the descriptions to arrive at a similar end point in each combination. I suppose that is the beauty of creativity.
